McDowell County Wildlife
|
McDowell County is located at the southern tip of West Virginia near the states border with Virginia. In recent years the Deer and Turkey populations have grown tremendously and both can be found in great numbers throughout most of the county. The populations of Coyote, Bobcat and Black Bear have also increased. The thousands of acres of wooded forest land combined with numerous abandoned surface mine sites provides a diverse habitat and has contributed to this increase. The links below lead to photos of some of the wildlife in the area.
